"Wspolczesna polska sztuka zlotnicza" - Contemporary Polish Jewellery is an exhibition organized in order to promote Polish contemporary artistic jewellery with it's full spectrum of ideas and artistic idividualities between circles of foreign audience. It is the second edition of exhibition under this title; the first one has been successfully presented in Germany, Sweden and Italy.
46 leading Polish jewellery artists coming from different generations and of different artistic orientation were invited to present their works. The elder colleagues are artists of established reputation, the younger artists will, perhaps, be soon setting new directions of development of our art of jewellery.
The exhibition consists of ca 100 pieces. It surely makes the representative revue of present situation, drawing actual image of Polish experimental, avant garde goldsmiting. Thus we shall find there all majoring tendencies - from geometric forms, still to be noticed at collections of designer's jewellery and jewellery connected with industrial design, throught experimental forms, often connected with use of non classic materials, up to narrative and conceptual pieces, some of which stress on jewellery as mean of communication. The subtitle "Duch i Geometria" - Geometry and Spirit seems to characterize the exhibition well.
This second edition has already had it's debut in Wuppertal, within the Ost-West Kontakte festival. The opening was on October 16th with participation of Wuppertal officials, invited guests and representatives of organizers - the Legnica Gallery. Together with presentation went sell of silver jewellery by Polish designers. Next presentations are planned for Essen, Prague, Bratislava (Pressburg), Viena, Vilnius, Sankt Petersburg and Rome. Thie exposition will be travelling untill the end of the 2006 year, promoting Polish art of goldsmithing and Polish artists under the aegis of it's organizer - the Art Gallery of Legnica.
